Local Solutions to Local Problems Program
|
|
|
|
This program is part of an integrated set of measures to help build community capacity with the aim of strengthening the social fabric of communities. Possible projects for support under this program include:

Converting unused buildings into community facilities

Providing establishment costs for self help services
-
Developing community resources, particularly human resources
-
Linking communities and people who are tackling similar issues in their communities
-
Providing facilitators and advice services
-
IT support and training for individuals to seek information or contribute to information about their community
|
|
Projects must emphasise community involvement and partnership between communities, business and government. Proposals need to include evidence of need and broad local support and ownership.

|

This program seeks to:

Identify and promote best practice examples of local solutions to local problems using mechanisms such as community events, workshops, field days, interactive information technology and local media campaigns

Develop a project bank of ideas
-
Encourage people to get involved in their communities

Network community leaders and community builders
-
Publicly recognise best practice examples of collaborative community action which effectively address local issues

Rural Solutions Program
|
|
|
|
This initiative is designed to allow communities to undertake projects to build capacity to identify and implement development opportunities especially leading to diversification and strengthening of social structures. Non profit groups with strong community or regional support are able to apply.
